Term 4- Inventors This term we will be beginning our focus 'Inventors’. This will involve us being creative and problem solving.
Literacy This term we are learning phase 3 digraph (two letters that make one sound) and trigraphs (three letters that make one sound). We are continuing with our pre-cursive formation and doing finger gym every morning to support this. We will also focus on reading and writing words and simple sentences. We are looking at the story Whatever Next and writing about the characters and setting.
Numeracy, Number and Shape Space and Measure Our focus in Maths will be on counting and number recognition. This will involve estimation, addition, subtraction and using the language of more and fewer to compare two sets of objects. In space, shape and measure we will be learning about positional language.
Expressive Art and Design Children will be using their creativity by exploring the different sounds of instruments through Charanga. We will also be making robots using recycled junk modelling when being inventors. We will be using our imagination to act out the story of Whatever Next.
Understanding The World During forest school we have been out looking for signs of Spring. We did some observational drawings of the daffodils outside.
Health and Self-care We have had a big push on washing our hands and hygiene. Another focus will be continuing using objects safely, dressing independently and trying new foods.
Physical Development We will be practising our hand and eye coordination through ball skills. We have been practising different ways of passing, throwing and catching balls of different sizes.
Language and Communication We have been practising the story and using language from Whatever Next to imagine and recreate roles.
Growth Mindset We will be promoting the children's mindset by our new growth mindset display.
